Bright Threads founder, Amber Johnson grew up with the campsite rule etched into her bones: leave a place better than you found it.
OUR STORY
From an early age, she knew that whatever talents she had, they needed to be put to use making the world better.
After grad school, as she began working with a range of organizations, she noticed a consistent truth—no matter the industry or the mission, everything came down to leadership. Strong, authentic leaders made things better. Weak or disconnected leaders didn’t. That realization lit the path for her: she dedicated herself to developing leaders who could create the kind of lasting impact the world needs.
But Amber’s true turning point came a few years later.
One day, after a long meeting with a group of executives who were older and more experienced than her, a colleague pulled her aside and said, “You’ve got to stop making yourself small.” The words stopped her in her tracks. She realized he was right—she had been holding back, not fully stepping into the knowledge, perspective, and voice she already had.
That realization planted the seed for Bright Threads Leadership.
That moment was an awakening. She began showing up differently, claiming her own leadership, and influencing in bigger, bolder ways. And a few years later, she knew the time had come again to stop playing small— she left the established nonprofit she was working for and launched Bright Threads Leadership, a consultancy built on her conviction that when leaders grow, organizations change, and get better.
Today, Bright Threads is a boutique consulting firm that helps leaders grow their capacity to lead with clarity, confidence, and care.

Led by Dr. Amber A. Johnson—who brings 20 years of consulting experience, 500+ hours of coaching, and a PhD in Values-Driven Leadership—we weave together the best evidence-based insights with deeply human, real-world practice.

Our name, BRIGHT THREADS, was inspired by the connections—often unseen but deeply felt—that bind us together.
